Help Tell the Story of the Texas Navy

There is no more dramatic chapter in the history of the Texas Revolution and Republic than the saga of the first and second Texas Navy. A small force, made up of wooden ships and iron men, who played a critical role in winning Texas independence and protecting the Republic. As part of the expansion of its 19th Century Gallery, the Texas Military Forces Museum is creating a innovative exhibit to tell the navy’s story. Elements of this exhibit will include a life size cross section of the main deck of a Texas man of war, an interactive computer to allow visitors to explore the story of the Texas Navy in depth, reproduction uniforms and much more.

All contributions to the TXMF Historical Foundation are tax deductible and will be acknowledged by letter, in the museum’s newsletter and in a special panel in the exhibit itself. Contributors will be invited to an exclusive advance tour of the new exhibit as well as its grand opening. Possibilities for major sponsorship are available and our Foundation is happy to discuss these with you or your organization.

Capitol Improvement Drive

The Texas Military Forces Museum has embarked upon an ambitious Master Plan to bring our facility into the 21st Century. Phase I of this project has just been completed at a cost of 2.2 million dollars. This phase placed a new roof on the museum, restored important aspects of its historic architecture, created and improved collections storage, archival and library spaces, installed compact storage systems in the gun vaults and library, covered the entire building with fire alarm and fire suppression systems, and made many other improvements.

In order to fund the remaining phases of the Master Plan, the Texas Military Forces Historical Foundation has commenced a Capital Campaign to raise an additional 4 million dollars. These funds will be used to complete the remaining phases of the master plan as well as create a 1 million dollar operational endowment to ensure the museum’s ability to continue to operate as a state-of-the-art institution well into the future.

All donations to the capital campaign are tax deductible and will be acknowledged by the Foundation. Opportunities for special recognition and naming privileges for significant gifts are available.
