Armin F. Puck

Brigadier General (Brevet) Armin F. Puck was born in Moulton, Texas, 19 June 1914. He graduated from Harlandale High School and received a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration in 1935 from the University of Texas. He has served his state and country well during over 34 years of military and civil service as a citizen-soldier both in times of peace and war. BG Puck began his military career by enlisting in the Texas Army National Guard in July 1932.

BG Puck was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in May 1939 and was called to federal service in November 1940 as a platoon leader, 36" Military Police Company. After entering federal service he was promoted to 1st Lieutenant in February 1941. During his assignment as Provost Marshal. 36" Infantry Division from February 1942 to February 1945, he was promoted to captain in

March 1942 and to major in January 1943. He was promoted to lieutenant colonel in December 1945 while he was commanding officer of Special Troops, 36th Infantry Division, from February 1945 until his release from federal service 2 January 1946.

Following his World War II discharge, he served as commanding officer, Special Troops, 36th Infantry Division, from December 1946 until February 1949. Beginning February 1949, he served with the 141st Infantry, first as the executive officer, then on 16 March 1959, as deputy commanding officer, and assumed command on 1 May 1959. He was promoted to colonel on 7 May 1959. On 1 March 1963, he assumed command of the 1' Infantry Brigade of the 36th Infantry Division and continued this assignment until his appointment on 1 November 1965 as deputy brigade commander, 36th Infantry Brigade (Separate).

During BG Puck's military service he received the following decorations and awards: the Legion of Merit; Order of Crown of Italy, Croix De Guerre (France); Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster; European-African-Middle-Eastern Campaign Medal (EAME) with seven stars; Army of Occupation Medal; American Defense Service Medal; American Campaign Medal; World War II Victory Medal; Armed Forces Reserve Medal; Expert Infantryman Badge; Overseas Tours Bars; Texas Service Medal and the Texas Faithful Service Medal. BG Puck participated in seven campaigns to include Naples-Foggia (AR), Anzio, Rome-Arno, Southern France (AR), Rhineland, Central Europe and Ardennes-Alsace.

BG Puck completed the Associate Infantry Officers Advance Course in 1955, and attended the resident Command and General Staff Officers Course in 1956. He also attended the Air Ground Operations Specialist Course, and refresher courses at both the Infantry School and Command and General Staff College.

His civic affiliations include Masonic Order; San Antonio Chamber of Commerce; San Antonio Fiesta Commission; National Accountants Society; American Legion; Military Orders of World Wars; Finance Commission; Jefferson Methodist Church; life member, 36th lnfantry Division Association; founder and life member of 141" Infantry Association; and Honorary Colonel of the 141" Infantry Regiment. BG Puck worked for the City of San Antonio and exemplifies the true citizen-soldier.
