Over There 1918: WWI Living History Event
March 1 @ 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm
Join the Texas Military Forces Museum as we explore the realities experienced by the 36th Infantry Division of the Texas National Guard, created in 1917, on the battlefields of France in World War I. The museum’s living history detachment will portray US, French, British, German and Austrian soldiers of the Great War in addition to demonstrating some of the most famous weapons of the conflict including rifles, machine guns, poison gas and a reproduction, operation F17 tank. Dramatic pyrotechnics will help bring the even to life as you watch from bleacher seating in the woods right behind the museum that replicate the Meuse-Argonne battlefield of 1918.
The event is free and open to the public and suitable for all ages. Free earplugs will be handed out to visitors, but loud noises mean the event might not be suitable for pets. Light concessions will be available, and of course the museum will be open for touring from 10 to 4 as always.
The event will take place rain or shine, so come prepared for weather!
