RE: Carl A Hildenbrand POW270587 Camp Stalag II B Good Evening, Please contact me. My Grandfather was listed as MIA and i have a list of POWS that are listed as MIA also. I cross referenced the list with my Grandpops Book that he kept while in POW camp, he kept lists of fellow POW American Heroes! He has Poems, drawings, and letters. This info was heavily sought out by other entities, and i was elated to see the 36th infantry division celebrated by your museum. My Grand pop was apart of a 4 star Family and his Eldest brother was KIA. My Grandpops sons followed his service in the military and his son in law was a paratrooper in the 101st! My mother (Carl Hildenbrands daughter) also had a daughter in the Army! We are very proud of our Grandfathers service and surviving the Rapido River Battle. We would love to visit Austin,Tx and share any documents that will benefit your Museum. Please feel free to contact me anytime! My un!cle has taken hundreds of hours to document My Grandfathers time abroad and that accompanied with the letters from my Gramps to my Grandmom showed me the loving side of my Tough War Torn Grandpop! His times are documented online and also lists of his fellow Heroes that were in the POW camp! I cross referenced the list with your 36th Infantry Roster and alot of Guys made it home! God bless your work and the Museum! And God Bless the Fallen of the 36th! If it wasn't for Men as Brave as The 36th we wouldn't have our Freedom! Bill Van [email protected]

My dad was in the 36th. He collected just about every book written about the division in WWII. No one in my family wants them. I would love to give them a new home.

I am writing on behalf of my grandfather who served in the 36th infantry Division 143rd infantry A Company. He has been telling me his stories of WWII since I was a little kid. I have now memorized all of his stories. To all the soldiers who served in the 36th infantry thank you! You truly are the greatest generation. Today, at 95 yrs old my grandfather still wears his 36th infantry pin on his jacket along with his hat. Many great stories and men of the fighting 36th!
